Do you know for sure that it’s the Duplicator plugin? For example, if you deactivate that plugin and then attempt the update, does it work?

Also, are there other updates to plugins that can be made? It might be another plugin that is causing issues.

One other thing, you might take a look at this community forum post: Timeouts during nginx xdebug session

It outlines some changes to the NGINX/Apache configuration to increase the timeout. Maybe that can help you here as well.
