Blocked by my own plugin

I’ve installed a Limit Login plugin and now I’m not able to login.

I have installed the plugin ‘Limit Login Attempts’ but now I have been out of my own Local website. In case I am unable to login by other methods I will need to wait for 1 year before I can try again. On a live Wordpress site I can login from the site itself (www.domain.com/wp-admin) or I can login on my hosting service and access it there by clicking on their admin button. Is there something similar with Local? Is there a way to enter my local password and gain access to my website as the admin? This is a challenging situation and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi, @JRC. You could rename the local limit login attempt plugin folder to deactivate it:

  1. In Local, click “Site Folder” next to your site.
  2. Browse to app/public/wp-content/plugins/
  3. Rename the Limit Login Attempts folder or temporarily move it out of the plugins directory.
  4. Refresh your local WP admin page and try to log in again.

Local also has a one-click admin option you could enable, but login plugins may still block login, so the above steps might still be necessary.

Hi, nickc.

Thank you for your prompt reply to my post and questions. As usual your answer helped me resolve my problem right on the very first try. I did navigate to the plugins folder, removed the plugin and was able to open the site. You are knowledge of Local and Wordpress is impressive.

Thank you again.

Glad we could help, JRC, thanks for letting us know!
