Please during the first set up, do i change the WordPress email to my gmail account or i should i use what is given to me… Also i can’t log into WP Admin…it redirects and shows 404 Not Found. Please i need help.
You can use the steps here to open your Site Shell and reset or create credentials using WPCLI commands:
You can also use WPCLI to do things like deactivate plugins and so on. Is this a new site or one you imported into Local? If the Admin is 404-ing it might be because you have a security or login masking plugin that changed the path. If you use the Open Shell function you can run a command like wp plugin deactivate XYZplugin or just wp plugin deactivate --all and then see if you can access with those disabled.
Thanks for your swift response… But please i am new to WordPress so can you be gentle with your big wordpress word, also its a local install and i didnt forget any password… it doesnt just connect…i don’t think forgetting password is the issue here
Sorry if that was a bit confusing. When you’re creating a new, blank site in Local by clicking on the + sign in the corner, there should be a part where you create your own credentials. You can use whatever name, email and password you want.
Regarding the 404 error, something might not be syncing right between Local and your browser. Could you changing your Router Mode and see if that works?
If you click on the profile icon in the upper left hand corner of your Local app, you’ll see an option for Preferences, then click on Advanced, and then you’ll see Router Mode. Change that setting to whatever option you’re not using, refresh, and see if that works.
If doesn’t work, try opening your site in a different browser other than your regular one.
Thank you for responding and making it clearer but none you have said has worked for me. i can’t even move to the next stage after all my learnings. So, my question is this. when creating my own mail during setup, should I add wp engine at the end or i should just use my Gmail account like that.
