I’ve managed to get past the 300MB upload limit, but I’m still encountering a 1GB limit. I can upload the file successfully if I switch the Router Mode from “Site Domains” to “localhost.” Is there a better way to resolve this issue?

Are you able to upload what you need over localhost or do you need to be able to upload more large items over Site Domains as well? If you need to check and raise any resources such as memory, timeout, etc we have some instructions on the bottom of our Performance guide here.

> Performance issues can be hard to fix! The best thing to do is zero in on where the slowness is occurring. Here are some suggestions to help set you up for success and ensure things are running as…

You might also try disabling all plugins as well, as something could be competing for resources during import.

I’m using the default Site Domains setting, but I have to switch to localhost every time I upload a file, which is inconvenient. Ideally, I’d like to be able to upload files larger than 1GB while keeping the Site Domains setting.

Is this just happening on a specific site you’re working on @s.tsuchiya? For example if you create a new, blank Local site can you import a 1GB+ file into it with Site Domains set or does it also fail?

</div>

Even when I create a new, blank Local site and try to import the file, I get an error saying that the file exceeds the upload limit, so the import fails. It seems that the upload limit is set to 1000M in Local’s configuration.

Did you edit your `upload_max_filesize` in your php.ini.hbs @s.tsuchiya?

You mentioned getting past 300M so I thought maybe you did that. If so are you saying you raised it higher than 1000M and it still won’t accept anything larger?

Yes, it gets rejected when I set it to 1000M.

You might try this next @s.tsuchiya

> [@Unable to increase maximum file size upload](https://community.localwp.com/t/unable-to-increase-maximum-file-size-upload/51159/2):
>
> Your file size might be exceeding nginx’s client\_max\_body\_size, @cduguet. You can try increasing it in your app/conf/nginx/nginx.conf.hbs file. Change this line: client\_max\_body\_size 1000M; To this: client\_max\_body\_size 4000M; Then stop and start your site in Local. If that does not work you could try importing your backup using WP-CLI from Local’s site shell using the [WP-CLI commands for All-in-one migration](https://gist.github.com/Niq1982/7b02c735d55d20395c655637d0491e74), which should bypass any server limits (but not PHP’s limits).

I tried that as well, but there was no change.

Can you attempt an import, or a few, to failure and then share a copy of your Local Logs here? That way we can take a look and see if anything stands out.

You should see a new option for Download Local Logs that will grab everything at once into a zip file.

To confirm what have you set your `client_max_body_size` and `upload_max_filesize` settings to @s.tsuchiya?

```auto
2026/10/23 09:17:57 [error] 7380#22328: *161 client intended to send too large body: 1305453037 bytes, client: ::1, server: test-site.local, request: "POST /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=ai1wm_import&ai1wm_import=1&ai1wm_manual_import=1 HTTP/1.1", host: "test-site.local", referrer: "http://test-site.local/wp-admin/admin.php?page=ai1wm_import"
```

You’ll want to make sure both values are set higher than 1305 MB and then after saving, Stop and Restart your site so Local can recompile the changes.

Have you tested doing any imports another way such as using Site Shell, SFTP, etc versus All in One importer?

php\php.ini.hbs

upload\_max\_filesize = 4800M

nginx\site.conf.hbs

client\_max\_body\_size 4800M;

I want to import everything at once, so I haven’t tried any methods other than All-in-One WP Migration. I’m looking for a simple way to do this.

Thanks for that info, @s.tsuchiya. Local’s router (sits behind the site’s nginx server) has a 1000M upload limit at present, so you might be reaching the limit of that. This is not user-configurable at the moment.

Switching from Site Domains to localhost for the duration of your import is the best workaround at the moment. Sorry not to be able to offer a better solution yet.
