Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hey @solentmm!

In order to take your site live you can use a migration plugin of your choosing to move it from Local to the server. Or you can use Local’s export feature to export it as a zip file and manually move the contents. You shouldn’t need to download or install any other applications on your device outside of a plugin.

If you’re using a managed web host, they might have a migration team or workflow to recommend or at least some documentation on recommended workflow.

i appreciate ur respond, im familiar with the migration procedure. my enquiry was about imac mini and sql files in regards to my website in Local .

Local doesn’t require Docker or anything else to handle your SQL database. Have you already been using it on your imac mini or are you looking to transfer a site you built to your imac?

Indeed, Local doesn’t. but imac mini does as sqls are do not run natively on silicon macs. Hence my question.

@solentmm Local includes MySQL built for Apple Silicon. You don’t need to use Docker to use Local on an Apple Silicon iMac or Mac Mini.

Just make sure you’re running the latest Apple Silicon version of Local:

Dear Nick, Thank you , thats exactly what i wanted to know. Now, when i zip file i cant see the SQL’s anywhere on my imac, any thoughts ?

Hey @solentmm - If you made a zip of your site using Local’s “Export” site option, Local includes your SQL file in the zip. Find it after unzipping your export file at [sitename]/app/sql/local.sql

Whenever you stop a site on your computer, Local also creates a database dump. Find it by clicking “Site Folder” in Local’s site info pane, then browse to app/sql , where you’ll see the local.sql file. Note that this only represents your database state when your site was last stopped, though. It doesn’t represent the state of a running site’s database, which is managed by MySQL. You will have to stop or export a site to get an accurate “snapshot” or export of the database as SQL.

Hi Nick, apologies for late response.

I try to do this this evening and let you know, i do appreciate ur help. now, ( lol ), after creating a life link, my site came up with a whooping 279 errors. HTTP’S r understandable as site not life but the rest of php font errors is overwhelming . Also, no one else can view any of the sites infographics in chrome ONLY safari( yes, caches and everything else cleaned, etc, etc), im located in UK if thats of any help…..

Hey @solentmm!

We have some troubleshooting tips for Live Links here. You might check if you have a plugin/theme conflict or maybe some cache/css that needs flushing as well.
