Hi there.

I have a live site and I want to do a few colour/layout options on it for a client.
But only on the homepage.
Is it possible to bring across the homepage, and not the entire site using Local?
Many thanks in advance
Dom

Hi @domhatch!

It’s certainly possible. You could use a free plugin like WP Migrate Lite to only export what you need and then in Local you would have to spin up a new, blank site to import the home page to. Once you’re done you’d have to repeat the process to get it back on the live site. If you have another plugin like All in One or similar you could accomplish the same or use WordPress’ native export/import feature as well. We don’t have any documentation specific to doing something like this, but I’m sure there are some tutorials around the web that could help!

Hi @Nick-B.
That’s great, thanks.
I’ll try the Migrate Lite option first and see where that gets me.
Ideally I’d like to make the changes and post it back up to WP for everyone to have a look, unpublished.
Thanks again.

Sounds good! You should also be able to use the WordPress native export/import as well if you run into any problems. The export would look like this:
