Local slow with SCSSPHP in Picostrap

Issue Summary

Hello guys,
we are the developers of Picostrap5,

a Bootstrap based wp starter theme,
which allows to instantly recompile Bootstrap’s SCSS code, setting your variable values via the WP Customizer.
It does so using the SCSSPHP compiler. https://github.com/scssphp/scssphp
What is very strange is that the recompile process is extremely slower (10x time) on Local compared to Docker.
Would be interesting to understand why!

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

Replication

Just install the picostrap5 theme, launch the customizer, change a colour, hit Publish.

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • Big Sur on M1 mac

I’m just chiming in on this because the Picostrap5 developer posted this as a result of my direct questioning about this issue.

I’m am actually running:

  • Local v 6.3.0+5756

  • MacOS Monterey 12.2.1 on 2021 MBP 14" M1 16G RAM
