# Lost wp files due to Local's update

### What issue or error are you experiencing?

Hi!

Yesterday I did update to “Local Ver.7.1.2+6410”.  
I didn’t export for backup.  
I lost most contents in the wp folder.  
(Only sql file in \app\sql remained.

But the corresponding data folder remained.  
(C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Local\run\AAAA conf&mysql&nginx&php)

I searched for lost files with a recovery tool.  
But it failed.

So I made new wp site on Local.  
At the time, data-folda"\Local\run\BBBB" was created.  
Empty the BBBB folder and copy and place the contents of the AAAA folder.  
(Maybe rename BBBB to AAAA is OK)  
Plugins need to be freshly installed.  
I opened “Local-Database-Open Adminer”.

I edited wp\_options,wp\_users .  
WP site has been restored to some extent.  
But img files need to be re-registered.

I’ll be sure to do a backup and then update.

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @kotetsu

Could you share a copy of your Local Log? There are some different ways to access and share Local Logs. For us to be able to troubleshoot thoroughly, please click the `Download Local Logs` button from the `Support` tab in Local. This will generate a zip archive that contains the Local log along with some other diagnostic information to help quickly zero in on any issues that Local is encountering.

In the future you can always use our Cloud Backups add on just as an FYI - [Cloud Backups](https://localwp.com/help-docs/local-add-ons-help/cloud-backups/)
