We use Local to pull/push to/from our WPEngine account. We have multiple servers under connected accounts and generally around 100-200 sites per server. Every time it is “Loading sites from hosts” under Connect, or “Loading WP Engine Sites…” under push/pull, it takes about 5 minutes to load the list of sites. Is there any way to speed up this process? Maybe caching the results of these queries or something? It’s becoming a major bottleneck in our operation. It seems to have only gotten worse since the addition of the Cloud Storage option.

Is this happening for everyone on your team? Or only certain individuals?
Do you all utilize any kind of shared VPN, network proxy, office network, etc?
I can see that you have several accounts on WPE, each with a large number of sites. Does the problem persist regardless of which account you choose? Or is it more replicable with a specific account?
We didn’t touch anything related to Local Connect in the latest release, but we did some testing today between versions 9 and 10 and haven’t been able to replicate any slowness as you’ve described yet. Have you tried downgrading your Local version to see if it, in fact, improves the experience again? Downgrade Local Version - Local

Yes, this is happening for everyone on my team.
No, we are not using any type of VPN or Proxy (although we do only get 50mbps upload/download to the office)
It does not appear to make any difference which account I am trying to pull from. It seems to me like it’s querying all sites from all servers regardless of whether it already knows what server the site it’s looking for is on.
After further testing it looks like I just imagined it getting worse after updating to Local 10.0. I tried downgrading to 9.2.9 and got the exact same speeds
It does look like I exaggerated the time it takes by a bit, but it’s still very consistently pretty slow. I ran the following tests:
- finding a new site through the connect feature: 2 mins 40 sec to load the list of sites
- finding an existing site through pull/push on server with many sites: 2 mins 41 sec to load the list of sites
- finding an existing site through pull/push on server with few sites: 2 mins 42 sec to load the list of sites
I tried all of these tests on both 9.2.9 and 10.0, every time it takes almost exactly the same amount of time to load the list of sites.

A fix has been deployed to improve site listing speed, @mgilbertson. It was a platform issue, so should improve performance without you needing to change anything in Local.
