I deleted my original account today as I no longer want to use Local Hub. But I didn’t ask Local Hub if it also meant that my domain name will be disconnected from Local Hub. When I now type in my domain into a google search it shows the Local Hub logo and says that there is an error. How long will it take for the disconnection of my domain name to take from Local Hub?! Thanks.
Hi there,
Local Hub does not store or maintain domain information - can you share the domain name you are entering into Google?
Hi Austin,
I was informed I need to follow this https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/27350/beginner-geek-how-to-edit-your-hosts-file/ to remove Local Hub but I have no idea what I am doing. So I have to contact an IT friend of mine. It seems like I should just be able to remove my domain name from Local Hub directly in the admin panel or section but it doesn’t work like that. My domain is morlacci.ca I own it.
Hello,
You shouldn’t need to follow that guide, although that would work! We should be able to sort this out.

When you say you deleted your Local Hub account, you mean on hub.localwp.com, correct? Deleting this account will delete the user data you have with us, but it will not affect any data you have on your machine - including the hosts file mentioned in the article you linked.

Have you uninstalled Local from your machine? Deleting sites from within Local will clean up that hosts file without manual intervention from you. Here is an article to follow if you haven’t - https://localwp.com/help-docs/troubleshooting/uninstalling-local/. If you open Local on your computer, you can right-click on the site in question and “Delete”. This will remove the files from your machine as well as removing the site from your hosts file.
Hopefully this helps!
Thanks,
Austin
Hi Austin, Thanks for all of this information. Yes, I deleted my Local Hub account but not from my computer. Will this also then, unlink my domain from Local Hub? Thanks again for your help.
Sincerely,
Julia
Hi Julia,
Yes, this will resolve the issue you are seeing on your computer. The website is live on the internet - if I go to morlacci.ca, I can see the website fine.
After deleting the site within Local, this issue should be resolved for you.
Thanks,
Austin
Thank you, Austin! I think it’s all sorted out now!
Thanks again!
Take care,
Julia
