The testing needed for MySQL 8.4 is increasing. Would be very good to be able to use MySQL 8.4 on the Mac client of Local WP (or toggle between 8 and 8.4). Thanks
Thank you for the bump on this @tigerxonair! We still have this in our backlog, but we’ll put our heads together and see about getting this done in the new year. 
Do you know when support for MySQL 8.4 will be implemented as 8.0 will reach official End-of-Life (EOL) in April 2026.
We are doing some planning on this right now @angievale. I don’t have a firm ETA but it’s near the top of our list to get out soon. We’ll share updates here once that’s ready!

A few things to note here:

MySQL 8.4 is used for new sites only, existing local sites will not auto-upgrade.

MySQL 8.4 is now available via the “custom” environment option. Local will still default to MySQL 8.0.35 as the “preferred”/default version for now which we will update in a later release.

Ubuntu users need v24 or higher to utilize this MySQL release
