Unable to give access to ect/host file

I am unable to install a wordpress site on my pc. I believe the issue is that Local is unable to access the host file.
I’m getting the following errors:

I believe I am having a similar issue, regarding the hosts file. There was a msg that popped up when I installed Local - I don’t think my pC gave it access to touch this file. Not sure how to check that?

When I load my site up, and hit ADMIN, it takes me to the local site then auto-redirects me to the real website.

Keep getting redirected to original site

Hi, I installed and used Local for the first time - I wanted to test out PHP 7 and saw a Youtube video. I’ve done all the steps correctly (I think)… however, after I “restored” my site in Local with Updraft, it booted me out. Now, I hit the ADMIN button but I keep getting redirected to the original domain and url instead of local. lil-memories-test.local just redirects to the actual site, now matter how I try?

Hey @davidboee, Welcome to the community forums and thanks for your patience with this!

That definitely looks like a permissions issue that you are encountering while creating a new site. Sometimes that’s due to things like Antivirus software or security settings.

I do notice that this is being saved into OneDrive– I wonder if there’s some sort of permissions issues involved there.

Can you try creating a new, plain WordPress site and save it to somewhere else like C:\Users\david\Desktop\plain-wordpress
