Intel iMac on Sonoma 14.0. Local 6.2.

Using LocalWP - trying to update wordpress I get - cURL error 18: transfer closed. I get the same error updating plugins that are not part of the WP repository.

I also find if LWP has an update, the download stops at about 95% - and never completes - I have to download manually. Now I find I want to switch PHP versions, and the PHP download (8.2) stops at 54/64mb and never completes.

So it looks like I can’t download anything in the LWP environment? I’d appreciate any guide as to what I might change - it feels like maybe a MacOS issue, maybe LWP is being blocked? But I’ve not got any 3rd party antivirus or anything else? I get no errors with LWP updates, they just stop.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @digismith

We introduced a major change in Local v6.4.3 that required a manual update. You should be able to update your Local version with the steps here:

> **[Update past Local 6.4.3 - macOS](https://localwp.com/help-docs/troubleshooting/updating-to-local-6-4-3-on-macos/)**
>
> The 6.4.3 release for Mac broke Local’s updater functionality. Here’s how to work around the error and why it broke.

If you’re using the Apple Silicon version of Local as well, this will require Rosetta 2 be installed next to Local as well. If you need this you can install Rosetta by opening up a terminal window and using this command:

`softwareupdate --install-rosetta`

Others have found this doc to be helpful:

> **[How to Install Rosetta 2 on Apple Silicon Macs](https://osxdaily.com/2020/12/04/how-install-rosetta-2-apple-silicon-mac/)**
>
> Rosetta 2 is necessary if you want to be able to run older non-native Intel x86 apps on new Apple Silicon Macs, like the M1 MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, or Mac mini. Curiously, Rosetta 2 is not instal…

Thanks Nick… but I totally removed LWP and manually installed Version 8.2.0+6554 - and it’s an INTEL mac.
I still can’t use php 8.2 as above. It never finishes download.
I noticed with updates - when I clicked cancel, a dialogue was behind but it immediately closed - impossible to see or bring-to-front, and too quick to see what it was properly… but I think it was some form of confirmation - to start the install after download.
I wonder if this is the same as the PHP issue - that a ‘continue?’ prompt comes up, but is hidden (or maybe blocked by Mac OS?) so one can’t click it?

Can you share your full Local Log here? There are some different ways to access and share Local Logs. For us to be able to troubleshoot thoroughly, please click the `Download Local Logs` button from the `Support` tab in Local. This will generate a zip archive that contains the Local log along with some other diagnostic information to help quickly zero in on any issues that Local is encountering.

The logs are pretty sparse. You’re right that it does seem like Local is struggling to connect.

Are you running other developer applications simultaneously? That could also cause similar issues. Apps like MAMP, XAMPP, or Docker for example.

Are you utilizing Apache as the server type? If you use NGINX are you able to create a site and get it going?

Thanks for the help Nick. I’ve discovered the issue is with my broadband… its changing IPs constantly and thus dropping connection to downloads and failing handshakes. Weird but there you go.
So I can’t fix it, but LWP isn’t broken.
