# Which folder to create Git repo in?

### Issue Summary

Hi,

I’m in the process of getting GIT setup with Local for version controlling local dev.

I’ve read conflicting things regarding where you should create a git repo when using Local and Flywheel.

Some places suggest that you should create the repo at the root of the WP install and gitignore everything except the /wp-content/ folder and it’s subfolders and files. On the other hand, I read here [https://css-tricks.com/css-tricks-on-flywheel/](https://css-tricks.com/css-tricks-on-flywheel/) the the core WP file are locked by FW and the WP-Content folder should be the root of the repo.

Any help or direction of this matter would be gratefully received.
