[Windows] Help! I'm getting a BIOS error about VT-X/AMD-v during installation

If anyone is receiving the following BIOS error:

This computer doesn’t have VT-X/AMD-v enabled. Enabling it in the BIOS is mandatory.

Then please reboot your computer and press the button required to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup. This will be something like F1, F2, F8, F12, Delete, etc.

Once you enter the setup, dig around for VT-X (Intel) or AMD-v (AMD) depending on your processor. It may also be named something like Intel Virtualization Technology.

After finding it, enable it, then save and reboot. The save and reboot button is usually F10 but may be different.

Side Note: Hyper-V must also be disabled if you’re running Windows Professional, Windows Enterprise, or Windows Education editions. Here’s how you can disable Hyper-V:

  1. Open the Window Start Menu
  2. Search for “CMD”
  3. Right-click on “CMD” and click on “Run as Administrator”
  4. Enter and run bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off
  5. Restart your PC

Here’s a screenshot of enabling Intel Virtualization Technology in ASUS UEFI.
