# Wp-config & WPEngine

Hello,

I have a question about the **wp-config.php** file, if I edit this locally, what happens when I then publish to a WPEngine enviroment? Does local leave the config file behind?

I have made some changes locally to the WP-Config file that I don’t want replicated upstream so just wanted to make sure local doesn’t push or pull that file.

Great question @richhowell! wp-config.php is one of our automatic path exclusions during the Local Connect sync. You can see the full list here:
