I had the application installed on my mac without problems, but I had to uninstall it.
When reinstalling, it remains hung on the screen “Checking system …” indefinitely.
Could you try going to Help (in the top menu bar) and then choose “Restart Local Machine”? Does that help?
Also check: System Preference > Security > General. Click “Allow” if it’s there in the lower left.
