Hosts File Cannot be Updated for Atypical Reasons

I’ve tried everything I could find to resolve this issue. Every time I try to create a new site, Local tells me:

Uh-oh! Could not update hosts file
Local ran into a problem when trying to update the hosts file
Please ensure that the hosts file is not locked by anti-virus

  1. I temporarily removed all anti-viruses and restarted my system.
  2. I found the hosts file and made sure that ‘Read-Only’ was unchecked.
  3. I also have WAMP on my system, and it links to the hosts file just fine.

I’m not sure what else could be the problem :frowning:
