How to make LocalWP websites not exposed to spam comments etc.?

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Hi,
the websites created with LocalWP are exposed to spam comments and other actions by outsiders.

How to hide the LocalWP websites, before they are pushed to live, from outsiders?
How to have these websites be solely visible and accessed on the local machine they are created on?

System Details

  • Local Version: 9.2.7

  • Operating System (OS) and OS version: Microsoft Windows 11 Home

How to fix this issue?
Let me know, thanks
Leta

Hey @Leta!

It looks like you’ve brought up this topic before. Could you share some more details about the site(s) you’re working on and what comments you’re seeing?

Hi @Nick-B
the problem has not been sorted out yet. while working on the site locally, spam comments appeared. they were not the default comments that are put on a fresh wp install by WordPress (example text similar to “lorem ipsum”). it is a new, blank site created in Local. It has not yet being pushed to live

Thanks for your update, @Leta. Local does not expose your sites to the internet unless you use Live Links (which are off by default).

If you’re seeing spam or other traffic to your local sites, you may be accidentally exposing your computer to the public internet or to your local network if on an untrusted one. You should turn on your network or computer’s firewall to prevent this.
