Live Link Images and Fonts not Working

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I’m new here and trying to get this to work but not doing very well so sorry for these ramblings….

I have it set up on Mac. I have my first website built and working fine. The problem I have is with Live Links not showing images and some custom fonts. Images in the gallery or used as a background are displaying OK but others on the page are not.

My website URL created by Local is: http://localhost:10009/

I have read many articles which seem to suggest my Local URL should be something like mysite.local not localhost or have I got that wrong?

When I inspect the blank Live Live image in a browser, the image source is shown and is correctly using the Live Link generated URL. If I use that URL the image can be displayed. So why won’t it display on my page even though it is correct?

My Local URL is: http://localhost.10009/

My Live Link URL is: https://swift-sweater.localsite.io/

Just taking one image:

It is displayed correctly I’m my Local site and this is the URL from inspection:

http://localhost:10009/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Acrobatics-1-scaled.jpg

The same image is blank in Live Link and this is the URL:

http://swift-sweater.localsite.io/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Acrobatics-1-scaled.jpg

When this URL is used you can open the image but the URL changes to https://

I’m confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @Tiggy1955!

Your Router Mode is currently set to Localhost which might be causing mixed content issues. If you’d like your Local site domain to be something that resembles a normal domain URL, you can try chaning to Site Domains.

Preferences>Advanced>Router Mode will get you there!

After that, you might still have some issues with Live Links such as mixed content or caching. We’ve got some detailed troubleshooting steps here to help get started with that: Troubleshooting Live Links

Thank you Nick-B for your reply.

I’ve made more changes as suggested and I still can’t get this to work. As your reply suggests “I might still get issues with Live Links” I think I’ve pretty much given up an this ever working for me - sorry to be defeatist - but I’ve now spend over 10 hours and got nowhere and I obviously don’t have the technical know-how to resolve it.

I like Local as a development platform (much better than using MAMP) and I’ll still be using it but given up on Live Links.

Thanks

Pete

No problem @Tiggy1955 I definitely understand needing to prioritize your time! If you have any other questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach back out!

UPDATE: I appear to have fixed this. I contacted Elegant Themes (DIVI). They suggested installing the plug-in Really Simple SSL. Bingo - all is good!
