Only had a quick look at my Local site, from the dashboard to opening the pages link took a few minutes, I forgot to time it and will do that next time. However it was faster than it had been recently but still seemed slower than it did before the update. Once I had got the page opened it seemed okay.
I checked Task Manager and I found I had two Local (32bit) listed, one with 72.4mb memory and the other with 21.7mb Memory.
Should I have two Locals?
CPU usage was much lower 0-5% when one page opened.
You might try quitting Local completely, starting it back up, and checking the Task Manager again. If Local has been open for a long period of time and you had multiple sites running or something like that, it could have extra processes running.
You mentioned earlier in the thread that you saw a lot of improvement in one site by deactivating plugins, which, if that is the case, then it might be a site-specific issue within the configuration and not necessarily Local-specific. So you might have to do some debugging on the site with a tool like Query Monitor. If youāre finding that the entire Local app is slow, or all sites you have are slow, you might want to try the Window specific items highlighted in our performance guide I linked above.
Thank you for your help, being a novice at this itās a steep learning curve!
I have only one Local site, I may open sections in new tabs but close them down before I exit via the log out drop-down.
Iād never heard of Query Monitor until your post above. I have had a look online and can see it could be very useful in finding the cause of the slow load.Something to explore as soon as I can.
Opened Local this morning and was pleased that it seemed to be back to normal. Once I got to the dashboard it took 9 seconds to open my list of pages and 20 seconds to āOpen with Elementorā.
All I had open was Firefox, Outlook (Office 2010 Pro) plus Local in my open Firefox.
Next job to add the Query Monitor plug-in and run it.
Hopefully attached is the screenshot from Task Manager if that helpsā¦
As a simple test you could create a new, blank site in Local and log into that and see how it feels. If itās super snappy and responsive then that will definitely point to something in your current siteās configuration being the problem. Then you can start troubleshooting plugins, the theme, etc.
Good idea. I have installed Query Monitor then tried to understand what it all meant, reckon Iāll need a stiff drink first !!
Newbie question, do I need to start from scratch with a fresh installation of Local with a new email, username, password. I would guess so but thought Iād askā¦
You can create as many sites within your single Local app as you want, but yes, each one will require its own set of credentials. If youāre just creating a dummy site to troubleshoot, however, you could simply set the username and password to something like test and test. Since this isnāt a live website you donāt have to worry about malicious agents trying to get in or something like that.
