No input file specified using PHP 7.3.5 or 7.4.1 ... 5.6.39 works

Yes local is installed on my C drive and the website files are on drive D. So this is totaly the case for me

Do you have any other tool in the mix ā€“ for example, is Dropbox, or another file syncing service running on the D:\\ drive?

Iā€™m not using any file syncing services on my D:\ drive. And Iā€™m not sure this feels like a feature request, isnā€™t this a bug? I can save and open files from any drive in my computer with all the other apps I use without problemsā€¦

I use Google Drive and OneDrive sync, but they are not running most of the time and only when I start them manually once a week

Same case here, Win is installed on C drive while local sites are on D, no Dropbox folder or similar tho.

Web Server Apache PHP 7.4, MySQL 5.7. It was a fresh install on a new machine same error. Nginx is working fine.

Hi @ben.turner,

when you allow users to choose a folder for all sites or each site separately and it works in combination of Nginx and PHP 7.3 but it doesnā€™t in combination of Apache and PHP 7.3 it is a definitely a bug not a featureā€¦

I am on Windows, I do not use Dropbox and I store Sites on different partition than operating system. I use SpiderOak for data backup, however Sites folder is excluded from monitoring and sync.

  • Nginx and PHP 7.3 on different partition than operating system works
  • Apache and PHP 7.3 on different partition than operating system doesnā€™t work

php 5.6.39 not work - have same message: No input file specified

php 7 sites - works

i use standart folder (in user home directory)

Thanks everyone for helping zero in on how to replicate the issue. That goes a long way towards being able to find the issue, let alone solve it!

Iā€™ve created an issue for our devs to look into though I donā€™t have a specific ETA for when it will be worked.

Iā€™m sorry for being unclear ā€“ I didnā€™t mean to imply that the way things are is a good thing. What I was trying to communicate was that having the sites on a different partition is a use case that we havenā€™t accounted for so it might mean additional, new features need to be added to Local in order to get it to work.

I am happy to hear that.

Same issue here. Doesnā€™t work on my D:\ drive.

Local version 5.10.5+5403. PHP 7.4.1, Apache, MariaDB 10.4.10

My solution: create a symlink. The Quick Guide to Creating Symbolic Links (Symlinks) in Windows 10 (makeuseof.com)

It makes Windows/Local think that the file is in the C: drive when its actually in D:

It should still be fixed though by the devsā€¦

Edit: After all of that, the site was EXCRUCIATINGLY slow, both on Apache and NGINX, so I uninstalled it and replaced with DesktopServer. Not as slick looking, but easy enough to set up and quite zippy. Given the amazingly poor support that Iā€™ve seen in the forums here, I can only conclude Local is a joke.

Hey everyone, just wanted to give an update here. I am actively working on a resolution to this, but it is a surprisingly challenging issue. Iā€™ll provide updates as I have them!

Another update: this should be resolved in Local 6.1.1! You can find the release notes here:

https://localwp.com/releases/6.1.1/

In order to get this fix, youā€™ll need to manually upgrade any PHP lightning services that have already been downloaded. Weā€™re working on making the service update process better, but in the meantime, can you try the steps outlined in this FAQ:

Please let us know if you continue to run into issues after updating and performing these steps.

Unfortunately still not working for me. I am on 6.1.1+5468 and I imported a new site after deleting the PHP version 7.4.1 and Iā€™m still getting the error. The site will only run on 5.6.39.

Ohh no!

Can you please provide an updated version of the Local Log so we can see whatā€™s going on? See this Community Forum post for instructions on how to do so:
