Plugin versions don’t match after pushing Local to Staging

Bug Summary

After updating all plugins to their latest versions and then pushing from Local to staging (wpengine), the plugins are not update on staging and must be reupdated.

Steps to reproduce

In Local, update WordPress core and any plugins
Push to staging on WPengine
Login to wp-admin on Staging.
Updates to plugins are shown as available.
Must update the plugins again on Staging.

I’m seeing this in reverse on WPEngine. Specifically with the Simple 301 Redirects plugin. This version is on 2.0.8, but when I pull down a copy from WPE, all other plugins are up to date, except this one which is reverted back to 2.0.7

Hi @jmtattoo! Are the all of the environment configuration settings the same between Local and your WPE site?

@propeller since it’s been a while, can you tell us if you’re still running into this issue?

We haven’t heard of this problem from other WPE users, so hopefully there is something specific causing it we can help narrow down :slight_smile:

Hi, Nick.

Generally, yes. We have a collection of client sites’. They all use primarily the same plugins and set-ups. We inherited these sites and are cleaning them up after an audit of changes. I just noticed this today since we finally gained API access and were able to download them locally.

So is this happening with all of your WPE sites? Or just a specific site? Is it happening with multiple plugins? Or is Simple 301 Redirects the only one with the issue so far?

What about PHP, server, and MySQL versions do those all match along with WP version between Local and WPE?

Hi, Nick.

From what I was experiencing during the Audit updates I wasn’t able to getting it in all instances.

Plugin: Simple Redirects was the only plugin that I was experiencing a version regression on, yes. The others were super simple.

Version: Yes, as far as I can tell they are all matching up

Could you provide some more details to help us take a further look?

  • What is your OS?

  • What version of Local are you on?

  • Please attach a copy of your Local Logs
