Plugins and themes are empty in wp-admin

Hi, I am able to install a blank wordpress site on my Local Installation, but when needed to make a staging site, where I downloaded the wp-content and database from the hosting account, the the backend works, the Pages are there, but the plugins and theme show empty in wp-admin, even though I can see them in the folder structure in File Explorer when I click inside of app folder, wp-content

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @iweb

How did you import your WP-Content into Local? Did you import a backup zip into the app, use Local Connect or manually move over files and folders?

If you Stop/Start your Local site or restart the app is it still empty?

I dragged in a zipfile with wp-content folder and databse, there are a lot of plugins and it looks like log is saying it is crashing, I just did Stop/start and no change, * The theme directory “medicenter” does not exist.

  • Error: The themes directory is either empty or does not exist. Please check your installation.

If there is a large amount of plugins and you’re seeing some crash messages then maybe it’s overwhelming the native import. You could try unzipping your site and then manually importing your WP Content with the steps here (skipping the DB stuff if that imported okay).

Manually Import a Local Site

Fixed it! Thank you so much!
