Staging Site on Flywheel Redirects to Local Site after Push

What issue or error are you experiencing?

After pushing my local site to the Flywheel staging site, the staging site redirects to the local site.

Note: I’m not tech saavy, so a highly technical answer won’t really help :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Not sure how you all can replicate a problem with a local site since it’s, by definition, local. I tried a search for this in the forums, but what I found was years old or unanswered. What I tried:

  • Change Router mode from “Site domains” to “local host.”
  • Using WPvivid to move the site (it didn’t play nice with the staging URL).

System Details

  • Local Version: 10.0.0+6907

  • Operating System (OS) and OS version: Windows 11 Pro, version 24H2

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

The easiest thing to start with is some cache flushing @jrothra!

Flywheel has a cache flush option in your Staging dashboard. If you click on the Staging tab it will be near the top.

After that, you might check if you have any plugin/theme cache to clear. They have a guide with some common ones to check here: The Flywheel guide to clearing your theme/plugin cache

If you’re still having trouble, it might be that there is some mixed content which means some links that need to be cleaned up manually. If you’re not super tech savvy, there are plugins that can help with this like Better Search Replace.

Keep us posted if you run into any problems or have other questions!
