Performance issues related to one specific part of the stack are difficult to describe the impacts as we don’t have an darwin-arm64
parts of the stack to test against.
Seems faster though
I don’t have the free time (and dislike Homebrew and most of the rest of the Shell-based tools, or I’d be using Valet), but here’s supposedly a way to test native vs intel-emulated performance of services.
Obviously I can’t say how much of this is due to Local overhead, and its completely unscientific, but comparing the exact same site, which is pretty heavy with plugins and a large-ish database, between latest Local with just ARM-native PHP and intel-compiled NGiNX / MySQL and Valet where everything is ARM-native is quite striking: Valet is literally double as fast as Local.
Hello all,
Circling back to this bug - this has been fixed!
It is still expected that MySQL, Apache, and Nginix are not compiled for Apple Silicon.
However, the PHP builds have been fixed with Local v6.5.2.
Local v6.5.2 is available on the Releases page:
Thank you!
Sam
Thanks for the heads-up!
Do you happen to have any ETA as to when Local might be shipped fully native for Apple Silicon?
