Forgive me if this has been asked/answered previously, I can’t seem to find a clear answer here.
I would like to begin using Local but I get the impression Local kind of ties you into using the Flywheel hosting as the option when you need to migrate your local site to a live host?
Before I choose to use Local, I’d like to know if there is indeed a way to migrate your local site to a live host (other than Flywheel) using tools such as Duplicator?
The reason I mention Duplicator specifically is because you do not have to have WordPress installed first (on the destination host) to migrate your site, Duplicator handles it all for you.
After going through some of the Questions here, it seems there are many in this community that have encountered problems using Duplicator in combination with Local, and the responses to these issues are very quiet so far…which is why I’m posting this.
Is there anyone out there that can confirm for sure on behalf of Local by Flywheel, that Duplicator is indeed compatible?
And if not, what are our options to migrate (to and from) Local to live host (other than Flywheel), which are hassle free options, hopefully!
Duplicator should work! ( see attachment.)
We use backupbuddy to migrate from local to live environment.
I just tried with duplicator and it works without problems.

Your best option may be to use MySQL 5.7 in Local if Duplicator isn’t changing utf8mb4_0900_ai_ci to a supported collation when importing.
To switch existing sites from MySQL 8 to 5.7 in Local, the easiest option is to export the site and then re-import it but select MySQL 5.7 as the database during the import.
