Cannot save on my Local site

What issue or error are you experiencing?

When editing in my builder (Bricks Builder) and attempting to save my progress I get an error notification that says “Error on save: HTTP code 405” (also see screenshot of error attached).

I am also unable to save in my code editor plugin, WP Codebox.

However, I am able to save progress in native Wordpress areas like Posts or Pages.

Please help!

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hey @cpmedia

Two quick things to check here. One is to try resaving your Permalinks. The second is disabling plugins. Especially if you have any plugins that are for security, redirection, etc. They might be interfering, but if you’re not sure you can just disable everything except what you’re using.

Hey @Nick-B

Thanks for the reply.

I tried both resaving Permalinks and deactivating every plugin and I am still getting the same error and cannot save.

If you open up your dev console are there any errors in there that are telling?

I’m not seeing any errors in the console when inspecting the front end.

I also checked in the two example plugins I mentioned and I am seeing some errors there.

I’ve attached screenshots of both so hopefully that will provide some insight.

To confirm you’ve got your SSL trusted and the domain is showing secure in the browser?

Yes I can confirm that SSL is trusted and showing secure in the browser.

I’m only a little stumped here since a 405 isn’t something I come across too often. Another thing I’ve found is that it can sometimes be caused by a browser issue. Could you try using a different browser to see if that has any change?

Here is another user who was running into the same error when using Divi and one of our Local team members provided some additional troubleshoot questions:

The same issue occurs across Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

Since the native WordPress items are working I’m assuming there is some plugin/theme conflict at play here or maybe some additional configuration needed for these to work locally. Have you checked any documentation or support forums for the plugin or theme you’re using to see if they have any recommendations for working locally or troubleshooting steps?

I know it is not a plugin conflict as I turned every one of them off for testing per your first response some days back.

I am not seeing anything in terms of issues experienced by other users with either Bricks Builder or WP Code Box.

I tried seaching around for Bricks documentation but couldn’t find anything specifically about 405s since that is kind of a general error message. Still I checked their forum here and found a lot of users are able to use it and Local, so this might be a good place to create a post and see if someone with more specific knowledge of the builder to assist:

As far as WP Codebox, are you having trouble saving a snippet? This might be helpful:

Otherwise you could try their support or FB group here:

Same.

I will work on tapping into those communities to see if they have any issues.

I am also doing some troubleshooting using other website with similar stacks to see if the issues live there as well.

Appreciate all your help thus far.

No problem @cpmedia! If you find a solution feel free to share here and if you have any other Local specific questions or concerns don’t hesitate to reach back out. We are always happy to help!
