Can't start Flywheel Locally - VirtualBox Error

I can’t get Local to start at my work PO. I had our IT guy install with full admin access but it won’t get beyond this error when I try to start Local from a limited account. He suspects the lack of admin privileges is the reason. Virtual box version appears to be more recent than the error code is suggesting to install.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

VirtualBoxError

I had the same problem and the answer seems to be turning off your anti-virus.

Hello Eric,

Thank you for your response. Our IT guy says that can’t be the hang-up because we don’t implement any anti-virus software internally.

He did want me to make it clear I mentioned this and I think I did in my post online, but I’m running under a limited Windows account internally at my office. He suspects that’s what’s giving me the problem. If that could in fact be the case, is there a workaround?

Thanks again for your help!

Greg,

I guess it’s possible, but I am also under a limited license and that didnt effect anything for me. If you don’t have any antivirus your windows firewall would be active and that might be what is causing it. Below are the steps I took:

  1. Uninstalled the software.
  2. Reset my machine.
  3. Turned off antivirus (or you might create an exception for your firewall).
  4. Reinstalled software.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Eric,

OK. I’ll run through the steps you mentioned and see if we can get around this.

Thanks again for following up on this!
