Could not update hosts file Linux/Chrome OS

Hi Guys :wave:
I’m using a Chromebook with Chrome OS and I try to do some web development on this thing.
I installed Linux and installed local. When I try to add a site then I got the error message, that local can’t update the hosts file. I know Chrome OS is special but is there a workaround to get local working?

Is it possible to get local running with this chrome extension?

I read that in chrome os you can’t change permanently the hosts file without deactivating the auto-updates. Really annoying. I hope anyone can help me to get a local WordPress environment for development.
