Domain name in DB doesn't update with Push from Local to WP Engine

Issue Summary

When pushing a site from Local to our new dedicated WP Engine server, the Search and Replace to update the domain name does not seem to run properly, leaving the .local domain in the DB and requiring us to do a wp search-replace function on the server after the site has been pushed up. This seems to defeat a large purpose of using Local.

The push and pull of Local worked fine with Flywheel it’s definitely a WP Engine specific issue. I found this thread with quite a few people having similar issues: Push Issue from Local to WPEngine. However, outside of one recommendation for adjusting some Advanced Preferences in Local of switching Router Mode from Site Domains to localhost, but that had no effect.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular?
    Out of 3 sites so far, it’s happened with 2 of them which were two fully formed site. The only one it didn’t do this on was a template/blueprint site.

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?
    Yes
