Hi all,
I get this and don’t find the way to resolve it.
I’m on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 and I try to install local-10.0.0.-windows.exe
I tried to install with and without administratives privilèges.
The file mysqld.exe listed in the above error is included in my exclusions files on Protection virus and malware.
What can I to do more ?
I read somewhere too that LocalWP has many problems with Windows. Is this right ? Some says to use Laragon.
Many thank’s for advices
Patrick
PS: I just try to create an other site named monsite and this time it’s ok.
How clean up the old one without broken the new one ?
Hi @Patdec!
Local works fine on Windows, in fact, almost 75% of Local users are on Windows. That said, there are several “gotchas” that can be a bit more pesky on Windows than with other OSes. Typically, these are security/permission-related, and it looks like you might have run into one and fixed it.
As far as your other site, if there is no work to save you can simply delete it. Interacting with or deleting it won’t impact your new site that you have running. If you do need to save the previous site, you can export a copy to save to your desktop or reimport it even.
Thanks for your reply.
However, I only have “mysite” in the Local directory, and if I try to create a new one with “the old name,” I still get the same error message.
So I think there are remnants of old files causing the problem.
In the Users/MyName/Local sites directory, I only have “mysite” and not the old name.
How can I clean this up without destroying the new one, since I’d like to rename “mysite” to the same name as the old one?
I created a backup on Google Drive named “mysite,” so is it possible
-
- To delete my site in LocalWP
-
- Import the backup from Google Drive and rename it to the old name
I’m still worried this might create a mess and cause other errors.
I’d appreciate your advice.
Many thanks
Ah okay yes if you want to reuse the exact same naming convention you’ll have to delete that old site first. As long as you have it backed up, that workflow should be good. Backup > Delete > Reimport.
I’m really surprised!
I restarted Local with administrator privileges and had no trouble recreating a new site with the old name, which is supposed to become my domain name.
So my problem seems to be resolved
For the readers’ information, I’m posting the screenshot I took when I started Local without administrator privileges.
Thanks again to you
Glad to hear things are working for you now @Patdec! Thank you for the updates
