I Need Help to Set Up Local on My Computer

I downloaded and installed Local as I would any other app; however, I find no app to load after it concludes.

Can someone point me to an article or wiki that covers this is a 1, 2, 3 simple steps process? Everything I’ve seen so far assumes that I already have knowledge of this process.

There is little doubt that I don’t understand what I need to.

I am trying to set up a local environment for developing web pages on my own computer without using any other environment or resources other than my own. Before I commit to Wordpress as my tool of choice, I want to ‘test drive’ it. As I understand it, I need a host environment locally to do this.

I am running Windows 10, Home, V.22H2 and Firefox V 115.0.3. I have installed XAMPP which should cover apache and MySQL (I think).

Obviously, I’m trying to learn new skills.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Here is a guide for downloading the app - Install Local - Local

If you’re not seeing an installer to click into, check your downloads folder.

As for the environment - Local comes bundled with MySQL and Apache, among other DBs/web servers. No need for XAMPP! Just a warning, running them both simultaneously will likely result in errors, so make sure to only run one on your machine at a time.
