Has stalled at “Starting Local Machine.” HELP

Hi @Barney,

I apologize for the trouble!

Can you please try the following?

  1. Quit Local if it’s running
  2. Upgrade to the latest version of VirtualBox. See How can I manually update VirtualBox?
  3. Restart your computer after updating VirtualBox
  4. Open Local

If the issue persists, please also try the following only if you do not have any sites in Local:

  1. Quit Local
  2. Open VirtualBox
  3. Right-click on local-by-flywheel and go to Close » Power Off
  4. Right-click on local-by-flywheel and go to Remove. Delete the files when prompted
  5. Re-open Local

Thanks for your quick response. I have 2 question as you can see Virtual Box comes up showing operating system as Linux. Downloaded as Windows is this right? When I try the second option of right-click on local-by-flywheel can not go to ‘close’ any thoughts why?

@Barney,

If you have the option to “Remove” but not “Close”, go ahead and skip to the step to remove it.

Note to other users who may be experiencing this issue: do not delete this VM in VirtualBox if you have existing sites in Local. Please open a new topic.

I am now getting message " Error creating machine: Error in driver during machine creation: This computer doesn’t have VT-X/AMD-v enabled. Enabling it in BIOS is mandatory."

I have researched this online and seems rather complex to enable. Is there a simple way or do I need to get a tech to set it up

Again thanks …really anxious to get this set up and running.

Please see [Windows] Help! I'm getting a BIOS error about VT-X/AMD-v during installation - Local Classic FAQs - Local Community

It’s not as bad as it looks!

You just have to navigate around with your keyboard.

Thanks Clay.

Big learning experience for me as computer crashed recently and when clear it out and re-installed windows they did not install some essential elements. So had to get installation corrected and program loaded great. Ready to experiment and begin blogging
