Looking for advice – Block Editor stuck in Kadence/Astra hybrid template mode on LocalWP — unable to access normal editing interface

My Block Editor no longer loads the normal interface. After switching between Astra and Kadence on my LocalWP site, the editor opens in a Kadence/Astra hybrid template mode with no cogwheel, no sidebar, and no way to return to the standard editing screen.

To replicate the issue:

Create a new LocalWP site, install Astra, then switch to Kadence and import a Kadence Starter Template. After editing the Home page several times, the Block Editor begins opening in a Kadence/Astra hybrid template mode with no cogwheel, no sidebar, and only the Kadence toolbar visible. The editor cannot return to the normal interface once this state occurs.

Local Version:

10.0.0

Operating System (OS) and OS version:
Windows 11 (64‑bit)

Local Logs:

I can attach the Local logs if needed. Please let me know which specific log files you would like (local‑lightning.log, router‑log, php‑log, or the full zip from “Help → Reveal Local Logs”). I’m happy to provide whatever will help diagnose the issue.

Hey @JohnCart!

There are probably still some Astra references in the site/DB causing a conflict here. I’m not exactly sure what those might be but with some research and digging you might be able to find and clean those up. Something that might work instead and be a bit easier is to create a new, blank site in Local, install Kadence, and export any pages/posts from the old site into the new site.

Thankyou Nick-B - I have deleted the Astra and Kadence work completely from my computer - and have started all over again - it has been a pretty steep learning curve for me, but, with hind sight.I believe that was the right thing to do - the problem was not the software - it was the ‘guy in charge’!

We’ve all been there @JohnCart! Glad you got things working again in the end. Happy Developing :green_heart:
