Migrating Cloudways WordPress App to Local using WP Migrate Lite (Incompatible ZIP)

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Using the WP Migrate Lite plugin on my Cloudways-hosted WordPress app, I’ve made a full site ZIP archive and tried importing this into Local (drag and drop). After a few seconds of loading, Local tells me that it’s an Incompatible ZIP file, and proceeds to delete the server. I was following this tutorial.

I’ve also tried only including the ‘wp-content’ and ‘database.sql’ files in a ZIP file and importing that, and had the same ‘Incompatible ZIP file’ error occur.

I’ve also tried the manual import described in this post, and received a Type error when opening up the WP Admin (closed it before copying the exact details, sorry).

  • Local Version: Version 9.0.2+6676

  • Operating System (OS) and OS version: Apple M1 Ventura 13.6.6 (22G630)

Hi @oliverduke

It sounds like you might have gotten there with the manual import steps. Was the “Type” error some kind of critical error that showed up? You could try using the Open Site Shell to disable all your plugins or swap your theme to see if that gets you back in.
