Plugin / Theme installation failing - Directories are writeable

Issue Summary

Unable to install plugins / themes through WP admin. Checked file permissions and owner - and it looks good. Even tried changing plugins dir to 777 - but still fails. Error is “Installation failed: could not create directory”

Only happens to sites that have been downloaded to WPEngine. A fresh install in LocalWP works.

Also, uploading regular media files works. Folder has exact same permissions as plugins / themes:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @michaelsoriano! Could you share a copy of your Local Log? Retrieving Local’s Log File
