Quick Question: Is my issue with Paypal Sandbox due to the fact I am working in Local?

Experiencing an issue with Paypal Sandbox. Payment goes through and I am redirected back to my site, but on the “Purchase Confirmation” page the order status is showing as “Pending”. Have explored a couple of different avenues to try and solve this and just wondered whether it was perhaps something to do with the fact that I am working in Local. Many thanks in anticipation.

Replication

Describe the steps that others can take to replicate this issue. If you have screenshots that can help clarify what is happening, please include them!

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

I’m guessing that PayPal is trying to use a web hook to tell the site that the payment succeeded. But since Local sites are not on the internet web hooks won’t work.

Well, webhooks from the outside don’t work. You can certainly test your own webhooks.

Hello @MacG64 - thank you for your question!

Yes, as @alexclst and @afragen have suggested, because your Local site is not on the internet, it is expected behavior for the webhooks not to work.

Does that answer your question? Do you know where to go from here?

Thank you!

Sam
