After never having any issues for years with this site, suddenly it is stuck on “Preparing to push… This won’t take long!”. It would always go through quickly, but I’ve left it going for over an hour, no luck. Tried restarting the program, computer, but no change. The “determining file list” issue also appears from this topic. I see that the developers were able to fix this on their side here.
Update: After a while, I receive the error “Uh-oh! We ran into an issue when pushing this site to Flywheel.”
What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc
Occurred randomly out of nowhere with no unusual changes.
Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
There was some platform maintenance that occurred on the Flywheel side that may have temporarily impacted Local Connect jobs. You should be able to restart and resume trying again!
If you’re not trying to push to Flywheel but WPE or elsewhere let me know!
I’m on Flywheel but I’m still forever “determining file list” after a reboot while I try to push. I’m also getting a warning mailpit is missing but it’ll be reinstalled next time I start but I’ve done that multiple times.
I found a couple of your sites on Flywheel @Glark (using your email), and they still had stuck jobs leftover from last night. So I cleared those out and refreshed the servers. Could you try logging out of your FW account in Local, quitting the app, and then starting over and see if it works now?
@noodle347 just an FYI I was able to look up your site on Flywheel and do what I did for Glark if you want to try again!
@DesignSmiths I’m not seeing the same stuck jobs in your Production or Staging environments, but you might try logging out of Flywheel in your Local app, quitting, and then doing a full restart of your device. After that you should be good to retry!
@Nick-B I too have been stuck on Preparing to push since yesterday. I’ve gone through the whole uninstall-reboot-reinstall process to no avail. Hoping you can fix it for me?
Hey @Nick-B I’m having the same problem with one of my sites being stuck on “determining file list”. I’ve tried logging out and back, restarting etc. I’ve also started a staging site and it doesn’t recognize it. I’d appreciate any assistance you can give in resetting it!
Hey @toughbax! I’ve found and errored out that stuck job if you want to try again?
Also, as a reminder, if you’re in a pinch again in the future, FW/WPE’s free migration plugin can be used as a workaround for Local pushes, as it works going from Local to either platform. It just won’t pull but you can always direct import a backup as an alternative there.
Hi Nick – Nah, tried that. It seems to be related to one site in particular. Either pulling or pushing – just never gets there. Then, on top of that now, cant do backups …again
I looked up your site on Flywheel, but I’m not seeing any Local jobs, so it seems the connection isn’t even making to the platform.
Is there anything unique about your connection that could be interfering? Do you utilize a VPN, network proxy, or office/employer WiFi?
Do you have any antivirus, security, or firewall applications that could be blocking Local? If your device is issued from an employer there could be extra security blockers as well.
If you’re having trouble with Cloud backups, then that could further point to some type of network/security interference happening.
Here are some potential workarounds for all of the above:
Nick, I’ve answered inline to your comments. I appreciate the workarounds – I’ve employed these in order to get the job done, however the ability to push / pull sites with the app at a single click or create backups to dropbox etc is literally the whole reason I use the app / flywheel system. Without these, its useless to me.
On the Flywheel support side, we can view historical Local connect jobs, so I should be able to see any activity, even errored or attempted connections, but none of that is showing up (under the same email you use here), which is why I wondered about your network and security in case something was preventing that sync.
I did some detective work and figured out that you have multiple emails/users on Flywheel. I found at least one other site you had with a stuck job from the maintenance disruption that started all of this, and I cleared that out. So, depending on what site you were testing with, that might have fixed things up!
Since this is a public forum, I didn’t want to ask you for more specific account information. However, if you’re still having trouble, you can also reach out to Flywheel support directly 24/7. They have chat and ticket reps available even when you’re awake
If you do continue to hit any snags, we’re happy to continue assisting you here, and I can DM you to gather more specific details as well but if you’d like to talk to someone in the same timezome, then Flywheel’s live chat will be the way to go.
