Unable to Access WP Admin (404 Page)

I’m having this same issue, and none of the solutions presented help (unless I don’t know how to edit the database). Has anyone found any other solutions?

I have a site with an older WP 6.1.2 that works fine, and I didn’t click Trust on the SSL. The non-working site is freshly created, trie with Trust and without. The WP version is 6.2.2.

Hi there @zgillet -

Welcome to the Local community!

I’ve split your thread into a different topic since the one you commented on was quite old.

To be clear, you imported the site but have not been able to access WP admin?

How did you import the site? Did you follow this help doc?

Did you happen to use WP Migrate to create the backup?

Thank you!

Sam

I used WP Migrate, yes. I used a saved configuration for the export that worked with my other site.

Hi @zgillet -

Thank you for those details.

Are you able to upload your Local log file (see this help doc: Retrieving Local’s Log File - Local)?

Can you also provide more information about your setup?

  • What is your OS?

  • What is the PHP version of the site?

  • What is the web server (nginx or Apache)?

  • What version of Local are you on?

Thank you!

Sam

Hello @zgillet -

Have you tried using nginx as your web server by chance or changing up the PHP version of the site?

Sam

Absolutely no difference with every combination. I’m going to start again from scratch.

I completely re-exported, installed, and tried again. I now get redirected to this URL: 404 Not Found (strategylocal.local)

I also get a strike-through in the https when clicking the WP Admin button and a security warning page. I have not clicked Trust on the SSL yet as that seems to permanently break it.

Hi @zgillet

If you create a new, blank site are you able to access that admin okay?

Does this site have any security or redirection plugins that could be masking the login page? Something like WPS Hide Login. You could open a site shell, and use WP-CLI to deactivate all plugins just to check if something in there is blocking as well.
