Unable to update Hosts file (with Kaspersky)

What issue or error are you experiencing?

[Uh-oh! Could not update hosts file Local ran into a problem when trying to update the hosts file. Please ensure that the hosts file is not locked by anti-virus].
I’m running Windows 10 Home with Kaspersky Internet Security. The Hosts file isn’t read only and I’ve made Local a Trusted application in Kaspersky. What else is there to try?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

I was referred to a Kaspersky forum post (link below) which sent me to a remote part of Kaspersky’s settings and it’s resolved the problem. It’s not somewhere I’d have looked.

Glad to hear you got it fixed @SteveCooper and thank you for sharing your findings here for others! :green_heart:

Hi Nick,

Thanks. I should have found the Kaspersky Forum note, but I think that everyone who has Kaspersky will need to do that same fix.

Regards

Steve
