Deleted my entire site folders/files. I almost went to buy this product until this and now, after checking the community forums, I’m glad I didn’t. So many threads about the same thing. This thing should be in beta testing, This product IS NOT ready for use on important website developing.
What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.
If anyone can help me restore from a google drive backup please let me know, local won’t even restore within the app now, all I get is errors. So basically I’m left with a load of long string file names and folders on Gdrive and problems… If theres anyway I can restore these manually so I can dump this app and go back to using something more reliable please let me know.
Sorry for your troubles here. Local is completely free to use for the entire WordPress community, so I’m not sure what you would have purchased, but we’re always happy for feedback from our users.
That said, if you have a zip back up file including your wp-content and SQL database you can drag and drop that over the Local app for the native import to take over. Otherwise you can spin up a new, blank site first and then import your content manually. Instructions on both of these from our guide here:
If you were using our Cloud Backups add on, there are details on how to restore or restic restore manually with those backups on the links below:
‘Buy’ as in, use it and use its push/pull restrictive abilities (move my sites to one of the two platforms it allows). Thanks for the response though. I managed to sort the back-up myself and have moved all to bitnami instances. I was excited when I found localwp but unfortunately for me it’s far too unreliable for serious work flow.
I’m glad you were able to get your problems sorted @adweb! Thank you for following up. For clarity even though Local Connect only works directly with WP Engine and Flywheel for now, users can export or migrate their sites from Local to any host either manually or with a plugin of their choice.
