Uploading files that I specifically asked not to be uploaded

What issue or error are you experiencing?

I am doing a pretty big overhaul of a website. On my local environment I have deleted all the themes and 20+ plugins and have a parent/child theme installed. Both themes use build tools. Both themes are in there production form and should not be uploaded with node_modules folders. Maybe its because there’s a lot of file changes, Idk but local keeps uploading these folders despite how many times I’ve deselected them. I have tried 6-7 times. I also have tried deselecting other files with the same experience. I upgraded local today and as I type this my node modules folders are being uploaded LOL. I believe this is a bug, don’t have a lot of time to test this or go back and forth so I am just going to go with the flow and remove the folders via sftp. Makes using local for the purpose of sync with wpengine quite exhausting as you have to wait for 20,000+ unnecessary files to be uploaded.

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Have a local enviroment with a wpengine upstream.
hit the sync button and unselect some files.

see if they get uploaded anyways.

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @emm

Have you noticed this on multiple or all sites, or just this specific site? It sounds like this site might be quite large so just curious if the issues persist with sites of various sizes or if your problems have just been specific to this install.
