Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

1. Does Local freeze on the “Adding WordPress…” step? Or at another point? Sharing a screenshot and Local’s logs can be helpful.

gets stuck on ‘Adding Wordpress’ - have tried quitting and restarting multiple times and restarted my machine. I already have sites working and wanted to add a new one.

Thanks for the extra info, @Lozx900, and I’m sorry for the issue. This looks related to the WordPress 6.5 update yesterday.

Please can you try the steps in this thread to force Local to download a fresh copy of WordPress 6.5?

Sorry that Local is freezing when adding WordPress, @Kendrix. Please could you try these steps? Quit Local and restart your machine. Open the Finder and choose Go → Go To Folder. Paste ~/Library/Application Support/Local/cached-wordpress and press Enter. This should open a Finder window showing cached versions of WordPress: [cached-wordpress] Delete all wordpress-*.tar.gz files in that folder. Open Local. Make sure to include the leading tilde (~) when you paste the path into Go → Go To Folder:

~/Library/Application Support/Local/cached-wordpress

The tilde ensures you’ll open /Users/[your username]/Library/Application Support and not the root /Library/Application Support as in your screenshot.

My local sites are saved as attached and I cant find anything under my username called application support. I’ve tried searching for cached-wordpress under my mac and nothing comes up?

@Lozx900 What happens when you enter this full path in Go → Go To Folder and press enter?

~/Library/Application Support/Local/cached-wordpress

(By default you won’t see a Library folder under your username because macOS hides it, so it’s important to use Go To Folder instead of trying to browse there manually.)
