Clone of duplicate website in Local

What issue or error are you experiencing?

How can I clone or duplicate an entire website in Local?

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @JRC

If you click your site name there is a clone option in the drop down here:

Another way would be to export your site into a zip, and then reimport it under a new site name.

Hi @Nick-B ,

Thank you very much for your detailed and helpful reply to my post/question.
Are you able to share which of these two is the most reliable one and the one least likely to generate errors? Will the clone or exported/imported site contain all the same media files contained in the original site? As far as the name goes, what name will be assigned to the cloned site?
Thank you again.

Both methods are reliable @JRC however the cloning method might be faster. You can’t have two sites with the same name in Local because the automatically generated domains have to be different. So you can choose to just create a new name for it or at something like a -2 at the end to differentiate.

Since there really isn’t any harm in testing, you could try these methods out for yourself and see what better suites your needs
