Connect to multiple computers

I want to be able to use local on 2 or 3 machines but sync the projects that I am working on. I use VS Code for non-wordpress stuff and I just sync the folder on onedrive and I can edit it wherever I go and even share the folder with others who are helping me with that project.

I have seen posts from 2017 with suggested ideas but then reports that newer versions don’t support the unofficial solutions.

Can anyone help me, I would have thought logging into the local WP account would allow syncing but it does not.

Hi @EVCV

We currently don’t have a simple way to utilize this workflow. With the current functionality, you’d have to sync your work up to a Cloud Backup or to a hosted version and then pull or import it back down each time you want to work on it again. We do have some feature requests for improvements in this area like this one if you want to vote, comment and follow for future enhancements.

I think I have worked this out (one drive only that I have)

Install local on both machines and change where sites are created to be in a folder that will sync to one drive (for me this was documents)

Then on computer 1 create a site

Close site, change the folder name to -1 on the end

Go to computer 2 and create identical site

Close the site down

Go to the folder and move the new site to a different folder and then rename the original folder to be normal again

Test it works, it appears to have worked for me.
