Error: cURL error 28: Operation timed out

What issue or error are you experiencing?

Error: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after

What steps can be taken to replicate the issue? Feel free to include screenshots, videos, etc

I’m really at step one. I began a new website, and have literally been able to add a theme…and that;s it. It’s so slow to click on ANTHING in the Dashboard, takes forever and eventurally times out per the cURL error. I tried deleting and starting fresh, same issue. I update to the most recent Local version, and WP version. On the site I started on I tried to turn off the Firewall to see if there was an issue there, same problem. Removed the 1 plugin I was trying to add, same thing. That is when I started over and the same issue is occuring if I try to create a new site. I’m at my wits end since there isn’t anything to change on the website, nothing is even built yet!

Security Reminder
Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @mhanberg

You might start by checking over our Performance help guide here, including the Windows-specific items mentioned:

Now it’s stating that WordPress.org can’t be reached. I already tried turning off the firewall to see if that was stopping things but same issue persisted

If it’s unable to connect to WordPress.org that might point to a network connection issue. Are you able to change your network or check to see if anything is getting filtered or throttled?

We have a Windows Troubleshooting guide below that goes over some common items worth checking as well. For example, make sure you’re running Local as an admin user, that you don’t have any security blockers, and that Local has access to update your Hosts file.
