Excessive sign-ins on Mac OS Intel

Issue Summary

I am a a classroom teacher with a Mac Lab (Intel Processors). I would love to use LocalWP as my classroom solution, but I have to log in for various security issues that I don’t have to in Windows. With 35 students in the class there are time I have to provide my admin passwords 3-4 times (Students don’t have admin access to computers.

Troubleshooting Questions

  • Does this happen for all sites in Local, or just one in particular? Mac issue only

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

Replication

Describe the steps that others can take to replicate this issue. If you have screenshots that can help clarify what is happening, please include them!

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used? 6.4.3

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional

macOS Ventura 13.2.1

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi @pgmelton!

There really isn’t a way to circumvent this using Local. Instead of giving them all your Admin password could you create a single “Student Admin” user that you could give all of them the credentials to and then just wipe at the end of the semester/term?

Nick-B,

Thanks for the reply and that sounds brilliant and very doable. I just have to figure out what are the actual permissions. I’ll have to figure out what the best way to do that.

Thank you very much,

Peter
