Flywheel Hanging When Starting Local Machine

Hi I am having issues with Local by Flywheel, I tried changing from nginx to apache for a project and now I am left with a message saying “Starting local machine” however it never starts. I have tried restarting my device and it still doesn’t work. It worked perfectly fine before the new update. I’m using the latest version of OSX.

UPDATE: I tried downloading an older version of Flywheel and it appears to boot up fine however when I actually go to visit the site in the browser I am left with:

This site can’t be reached

driven.dev refused to connect.

I then tried changing the setting back from Apache to nginx and restarting my system to see if that would fix it and it didn’t.

If this isn’t a quick fix how could I migrate my site from Local to MAMP? I can see a bunch of SQL files in app/sql however this isn’t one DB file so I’m a little bit confused with what I should do with them.

Trust this to happen when I go to demonstrate to a client haha, embarrassing.

UPDATE 2: I have seen their is an issue with initialising Local on Mac so I am now using version 2.1. This seems to work fine however all my sites return this error when I visit them in the browser now:

502 Bad Gateway

I am having this same issue, so I will keep an eye on this thread for resolution…I am having other issues where one time I access a Local dev site and all works well, 20 mins later the site cannot be found…or just cannot login.

Helas. The developer and support staff have given up on trying to answer any questions. Bottom line, they have released a version so full of bugs! They know longer know how to respond! My two cents.

I’ve simply given up. Hopefully, the dev team will put their responsibility hats on and get this major screw up fixed!

I am staying with Local version 2.0.1 since that is the version that appears to work despite having so many error codes in the log file. I like the new user interface of Local version 2.X.

I am making a full backups however of the website I am developing using All-In-One-WP-Migration.

That way, if Local becomes too unstable or development bogs down, I can go back to using DesktopServer Premium. They informed me that the next release version 3.9 will have PHP7 finally.

I’ve switched to Local 2.0.1 luckily I managed to get my site working by creating a backup of my project and then deleted the site within Flywheel. I then just created a new site and used my files and DB from the backup. Only issue is that the VM is running horribly slow for some reason now, taking up to 10 seconds to load a page. I have just loaded my project onto Mamp and I might use Local in the future when the development team have made this all stable.

I’m unsure why they even changed the Local 1x it worked a treat!

They changed Local 1.x to Local 2.x to improve the user interface - which I think is great.
But somehow the underlying system - which depends on multiple 3rd party apps - went awry.
So I hope they fix it.

I’m running on MacOS High Sierra version 10.13 Beta (17A306f)

HI all. Well, well well! Why am I back here, following on a post which seems like ages ago! Yes, the flywheel has been fly, after finding a way to make it all happen again but losing precious work time over said period!

Anyways, things have been awesome, some minor issues always easily fixed because, well. I know what I’m doing! right? hahaha = frowning.

But wait … another update, another headache!

First, why is it that now, sites with .dev are now sites with .local? Breaking change? Why no warning? Hmmm. Maybe I’m just out in left feild. Anyways … Because of the problems with upgrades …

Re-introducing old bugs because that is what is happening here! How do I re-initialize a site that had a .dev extension and now has a .local when trying to recreate the site according to intructions …

Hope I’m not being too cryptic …

The .dev issue has nothing to do with Flywheel, it’s a change to Chrome and affects anyone and everyone using .dev as a TLD. Not to mention that it’s well documented in multiple threads here and literally all over the internet.

Additionally, it’s bad form to reopen old threads nor is it to hijack other peoples threads with your own different issues.
