How do I change the localhost?

Issue Summary

localhost resolves to a Local by Flywheel 404 page

Troubleshooting Questions

I’m wanting to use Desktop Server by ServerPress so I can get my old sites backed up and moved over to Local. However, when I start up ServerPress Desktop Server and click on its Sites button it opens the localhost URL with a 404 Local by flywheel page when it should be opening Desktop Server’s Sites (list of sites and admin capabilities.

How do I fix this?

  • Are you able to create a new, plain WordPress site in Local and access it in a Browser?

System Details

  • Which version of Local is being used?

  • What Operating System (OS) and OS version is being used?

    • For example: macOS Catalina or Windows 10 Professional
  • Attach the Local Log. See this Help Doc for instructions on how to do so:

Security Reminder

Local does a pretty good job of scrubbing private info from the logs and the errors it produces, however there’s always the possibility that something private can come through. Because these are public forums, always review the screenshots you are sharing to make sure there isn’t private info like passwords being displayed.

Hi there @bensieg -

Thank you for sharing this - do you by chance also have Local running while you’re trying to open up ServerPress Desktop Server? If so, you may need to fully quit out of Local so that the router process stops.

Can you give that a try?
